For over ten years, Shawn has focused solely on the Healthcare Industry serving a wide variety of healthcare clients. He spent five years working in the healthcare practice for one of the largest brokerage firms in the world dedicated to servicing the needs of hospitals, large physician groups and nursing homes. Shawn has had extensive hands on experience throughout the insurance spectrum from fully insured programs to various levels of self-insurance including captives. Before his role of President for RTIA, Shawn was the Insurance Risk Manager and Malpractice Claims Manager for one of the largest healthcare systems in Boston which was transitioning from first dollar coverage to a self-insured insurance program. His role included the management of the hospital insurance program as well as its over 1,000 physicians. Additionally, his responsibilities included continuously evaluating the hospital’s risk exposures and coordinating risk management education options for the physicians.

In his current role, Shawn is the primary contact for the management of RTIA’s large physician practices and hospital clients as well as providing our clients with important updates in both the marketplace and the healthcare industry. Shawn’s expertise is in the casualty lines, specifically the medical malpractice for hospitals, the complexities of the medical malpractice for physicians and surgeons, commercial general and the umbrella/excess liability placements. These programs range from first-dollar coverage to sophisticated risk structures. Shawn also manages the various relationships with the healthcare liability markets for RTIA.

An Honors Healthcare Administration Graduate of Stonehill College in North Easton, MA, Shawn is an active member in the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), Massachusetts Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the Northern New England Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and the MAIRI MGMA.
